About Featured Artist Sex The Cat

Jacob Garvin is a collage artist based in Bozeman, Montana. With a background in glassblowing, he brings a unique perspective to his collage art, which he began while exploring the benefits of sobriety.

While he focused mainly on collaging cats for the first 5 years of working in the medium, he has since expanded in subject and dimension. He adds texture through a variety of materials, including textiles, which are often thrifted, to bring in new depth and playfulness. Jacob draws inspiration from various sources, including literature, music, pop culture, and personal history.

With a focus on joy and contemplation, he mixes texture and color without intending for each piece to have a deep meaning. This simplistic approach to collage opens greater opportunities for the viewer to approach his pieces with their own imagination, interpretation, and experience.
