Showcasing Series:

The Vessel of Imagery

“There is a profound purpose within photography.”

Can you give us an artist statement for the series you will be showcasing in March for Snapped at Spectra Art Space?

“When looking at the development of the camera, I see that it has been more profound than we may think when relating it to the evolution of humans and the society in which we have constructed. The camera has given the individual an ability to share a specific perspective in a tangible way. From one eye to another, we are able to communicate a moment in time, the essence of history or a living experience.

I feel the skill of capturing images of our reality can be a great tool in connecting and relating humanity to one another, despite space and time, one can look upon a beautiful landscape or a portrait from a different life; there is potential for a relationship between the image and the viewer, a stillness in a moment within an every changing world..

Tell us about the process for the series?

“This is a collection of images I feel relate in composition and esthetic, they have been collected over recent years from many travels around the world.”

Shannon Rose Bress The Artists:

“I started my journey with photography around 2010 in a high school, it was a resource that gave me a clear path and incentive going forward. It feels to be less of a hobby and more so a way in which I experience and interact with life. I have been working at Mike’s Camera for the last 4 years specializing in the imaging departmeny while also working close as a nanny for my family the last 6 years. Much of my time and ambition has been dedicated to traveling which is where I naturally source inspiration. I see I have much to learn to Integrate the different passions that drive my creativity. The more I share what it is I’ve already captured, the closer I feel to the deeper purpose within being a photographer.”
