Showcasing Series:
Auspicious Escape
“Finding a joyful escape in the small moments, against vast landscapes and challenges. The ability to get lost in the small details and discoveries that lead to a more auspicious life. ”
Can you give us an artist statement for the series you will be showcasing in March for Snapped at Spectra Art Space?
“Auspicious Escape is a collaborative series between Alex Clifford and Sadie Young. This series utilizes images of vast landscapes juxdapposed with enhanced images of small details within these landscapes to emphasize moments of joy through discovery.
All of the photos in this series were taken during the many hikes and mountain adventures Alex and Sadie had during the 2020 lockdowns. These photos are an ode to the pure joy that can be found in the small moments and details if you just allow yourself to slow down and get lost.
Viewers are invited to escape in the playful colors, layers, and mixed media textures of each piece in the series. Auspicious Escape is a combination of Sadie’s love for color, fiber art, and experimental compositions mixed with Alex’s love for the mountains, and photography.“

Alex Clifford and Sadie Young The Artists:
Alex Clifford: “I have been intrigued by photography since middle school. Whether on a mountain adventure or being with friends down by the river I always have a camera with me. I was gifted my first DSLR camera as a graduation gift that I continue to use today, along with other digital cameras. One of the key pieces of gear on my 200-mile journey on the Colorado trail was a small point a shoot camera that was used to document my adventure. I am always searching for grand views and small wonders to capture on my excursions through the Rocky Mountains and beyond.”
