All About Our Featured Artist Ashley Raine Arts

Artist Statement

My current body of work focuses on the juxtaposition of pop-culture and classical painting styles. I grew up with all things nerd. Star Wars and Star Trek were a staple in my home, along with Doctor Who, Stargate, etc… all of which drive the imagery in the majority of my pieces today. After several years as a traditional landscape and portrait artist, I decided to focus on creating work that weaves my classical painting background with the nerd tropes that I love. This collection of parody pieces will be expanding and growing over the years to come. I hope my audience enjoys viewing them as much as I love painting them.

Artist Biography

Ashley Raine is a muralist, painter and sculptor. She fell in love with art at a young age and began pursuing artistic studies at 13 years old. Encouraged by her teachers to learn several different kinds of media, Ashley began advanced oil painting, drawing and sculpture classes during high school. She then traveled to London where she studied figure and landscape painting. She was accepted into Colorado’s Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design where she spent two years under the instruction of expert painters developing her proficiency of the figure. After taking a year to start her own business, she went on to complete her education at MSU of Colorado where she refined her painting techniques and explored sculptural media. In the years since she has focused on creating a body of parody paintings that focus on the juxtaposition of pop-culture and classical painting styles. Ashley‘s work has been featured in galleries all over the US, and is in collections all over the world. She currently creates work out of her studio in Colorado, where she now resides.
