Snapped Featured Artist

Opening March 4th At Spectra Art Space

Showcasing Series:

Spirits

“When the Spirits play what do the colors say?”

Can you give us an artist statement for the series you will be showcasing in March for Snapped at Spectra Art Space?

“As a photographer, I usually try to capture moments for remembering what I saw and comparing to other memories and images. Sometimes I use long exposures to capture “more” than what is there. I have always done in-camera effects because I love seeing the result of unknown trials. Lately I have been watching my partner Merhia (who is also in this show!) digitally manipulating/painting her photographs, bringing out more than what’s there. Inspired by this technique, I tried processing my images to see what they have to say.

Tell us about the process for the series?

“I took colorful photographs and long exposures and boosted the color. We are seeing what was already there, but in a much different light. “

Andrew Novick The Artists:

Andrew Novick is a Denver photographer and a prolific provocateur of wackiness. Whether as a performer of music and/or PowerPoint presentations (Warlock Pinchers, GetYourGoing) or running themed food events (PeepsBQ, Andrew Novick’s X-Treme Pancake Breakfast, Surgery Dinner, Pumpkin Pie Ramen Pop-up, etc.), he tries to keep himself (and others!) busy. He is also an electrical engineer calibrating atomic clocks and an avid collector.

Flllow his art adventures on his Instagram, Facebook, and his website.
